Editorial Consultations
I've been teaching literature, writing, and creative writing (fiction) at a New York-area community college for a long time now, and I've become adept at recognizing promising work, as well as potential pitfall in early drafts, developing praise that is as precise as my criiticism, and encouraging writers at varying levels to continue to practice and push their writing.
In addition to this work, I've read for a literary magazine and as an acquisitions editor for an independent press. These experiences have informed my own writing and have given me a strong sense of how soon a reader can tell if a writer is in control, and if this is a piece they will want to continue reading.
And finally I've read the work of countless colleagues, friends, and even strangers, who've asked me for advice and feedback. While I would love to continue to read the work of every person who reaches out, I do have to protect my time and maybe what's left of my sanity; so at this point, I'm offering my services for compensation. I am available for the following:
Story/Novel Coaching or Accountability Coach
We can work out the details of what you need and what the price will be, but basically, I will be by-your-side from start to finish, with weekly, bimonthly, or monthly zoom meetings in order to review concept, outline, development, pacing, and all the things that make a novel.

Manuscript Critique:
a comprehensive overview of what's working, what could use development, and any other issues you'd like me to focus on in my read. I will provide a 1-3 page letter and be available for a one-hour zoom meeting to discuss your work.
80,000 words = $800
90,000 words = $850
100,000+: we'll talk
Short story critiques: I'll do a minimum of 3 stories, or 30,000 words
30,000 words: $300
40,000 words: $400
50,000 words: $500
and etc.
